More than 1,200 people from nine companies joined in the annual reforestation day of the GEMI Initiative, a social area of the Global Environmental Management Initiative (GEMI), established by a business group that promotes sustainability.
This reforestation was carried out in the San Martín Cuautlalpan ejido, in the municipality of Chalco, State of Mexico, where more than 5,700 trees were planted to preserve this forested area bordering the municipality of Ixtapaluca, State of Mexico.
This activity was attended by entire Chile Mobile Number List families who were accompanied by their children and even pets, as the organizers indicated that this environmental day was to enjoy nature among all members of the household.
The companies AB Mauri, Constellation Brands, Bio Pappel, Colgate-Palmolive, Grupo Bimbo, Grupo Jumex, Natura México, Tetra Pak and Tork, were the brands present in this reforestation, which had the advice of Reforestamos México and allowed the planting of pine trees in the Izta-Popo natural park.
In an interview with ExpokNews, Alejandro Sosa, executive director of GEMI Initiative, stated that this is the fifth time that they have organized reforestation on properties in the State of Mexico, the previous places had been Nevado de Toluca, on the La Loba property, and Tlalnepantla, in the Sierra de Guadalupe.
He recalled that five years ago they started with an attendance of 280 volunteers from 6 companies and now they surpassed the presence of more than a thousand people on this day.
He declared that although many companies that have participated in this environmental activity are competitors in the market, this does not prevent them from collaborating with the same purpose when it comes to preserving nature.
«From 2015 to 2018, we have planted more than 18 thousand trees with the proactive participation of 2,825 volunteers. Through this great work, the participating brands promote the culture of caring for the environment in the population, promote sustainable development and contribute to the conservation of soil and biodiversity," said Griscelda Ramos, coordinator of Corporate Social Responsibility of the GEMI Initiative. .
